Boating season and summer boat prep time is upon us! We’re as excited as you are, but before you put your boat in the water, make sure you take time to prepare your boat’s exterior surface for the summer ahead. We recommend 3 things for summer boat prep.
After thoroughly cleaning the exterior surfaces of the boat, we recommend applying our Big Kahuna Polymer Sealant to the boat’s hull by hand or using a D/A polisher. The sealant acts like a sunscreen for the gel coat, shielding your boat from the damage caused by the sun’s UV rays. It creates a high-gloss finish, leaving a protective, water-repelling coating. It will also reduce the need for continual polishing.
Once on the water, maintain your restored surfaces by cleaning and removing water spots and breaking up lime, mineral deposits and similar contaminants that have dried and bonded to the surface of your boat. Our Gnarly Water Spot Remover + is fast and easy to use – just apply it to a 2′ x 2′ area, wait 30 seconds and wipe it off. You can use our Gnarly Water Spot Remover + throughout the summer to keep water spots away.
For boats that have been exposed to the elements and have oxidation or other surface defects, polish your boat’s hull to restore the gloss, remove mild oxidation and bring out the shine. We recommend one of our Gel Coat Restoration Kits:
Our Standard Gel Coat Restoration Kit is a 3-step polishing kit with 3 products
Our Complete Gel Coat Restoration Kit includes the products in our standard kit plus pads.
