Big Kahuna Gel Coat Polymer Sealant #14

Our gel coat polymer sealant is designed to protect new and like-new finishes from the abuse of the marine environment. The treated surface area is left with a high degree of UV screening and hydrophobicity to protect the gel coat and treated surfaces.

This product is available in two sizes: 16oz (HBC-1416) and 1-Gallon (HBC-1401)

Preserve your boat’s beautiful finish with our polymer sealant. Unlike most boat waxes or sealants, Big Kahuna uses micro-abrasives that gently remove old wax and residue from the gel coat and surface. The prepared surface is then wrapped in a layer of polymers that bond to the surface to protect your boat from the elements, and the high-gloss coating repels water and protects the surface from damaging UV rays.

Applying a polymer sealant on your boat is a straightforward process, but it does require careful preparation and execution. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1.  Surface Preparation: Before applying the Big Kahuna Gel Coat Sealant, ensure the surface is new or in a like new condition, free from oxidation and other surface defects as this will impede the durability and gloss.
  2. Hand Application: Squeeze a small amount of polymer sealant onto a soft, clean cloth or applicator pad. Apply it to the boat’s surface in small sections, using a circular or back-and-forth motion.
  3. Machine application: Apply a small amount of polymer sealant to the foam pad and spread it across the surface with the polisher set at a slower speed. Cover a 2’ x 2’ section at a time and reapply polymer sealant as needed.
  4. Allow it to dry: Let the sealant cure for a few minutes.
  5. Buff the surface: Once the sealant is dry, wipe any residue from the surface using a clean, dry microfiber cloth. This will remove any excess sealant and bring out the high-gloss shine.
  6. Repeat if necessary: Depending on the condition of your boat, you might need to apply a second coat of sealant for optimal protection and shine.Gel coat polymer sealants provide a protective layer against UV rays, salt, and other environmental factors and can last longer than traditional wax. However, it is crucial to reapply it as recommended so it maintains its protective properties.

The longevity of a polymer sealant can vary based on factors such as the application method, and the environmental conditions to which the boat is exposed. Most high-quality sealants can provide protection for a month; however, Big Kahuna Gel Coat Polymer Sealant #14 can last up to 4 months.
